SweetPoly was the Matriarch of Rancho Deluxe and wrote the post that began the cooperative narrative threads centered on the Ranch. Her online persona or avatar was a curious mixture of traditional feminine traits - her activities included baking blackberry pies and presiding over the porch and kitchen of the Ranch - and an assertive, technologically sophisticated woman who was not afraid to express a controversial opinion or defend her friends at the Ranch with topical posts to non-Rancho threads at alt.cyberpunk. She stated in a post to a non-Rancho thread that she had consciously written the original post as a way to foster a sense of community among many of the regular posters at alt.cyberpunk.
